Therapy

I’m a firm believer that everyone should give therapy a try. Delving deep into self-exploration and uncovering meaning behind unconscious behaviours and attitudes is truly wholesome. Exploring the truth of the soul so that you can shine a light more brightly than even the stars. I am convinced that in order to find peace in the now, you must first heal the wounds of the past.

I started my intense therapy journey about six months ago. Truthfully, I have done therapy before (life coach, CBT, psychologist), but none of it remained long enough to hold value. Sometimes finding the “right” therapist is a bit of trial and error. This can be a deterrent for many. It was for me. I gave up on the concept of ‘getting help’ due to failed attempts at finding someone who saw me for me. Authenticity is the key to being seen.

I encourage you to find that missing piece of perspective and wisdom therapy offers. A good therapist will recognize your magnificence equally as you do theirs.

Going into my first session, I knew I needed to get vulnerable and use my voice to share my story. The raw and unedited version. I have masked much of myself, partly for survival in the real world, but also due to shame, embarrassment, guilt and blame. I am so tired of letting these emotions dictate who I am and what I’m worth. I choose to live my life with the risk of vulnerability and emotional exposure.

MaryAnne, my therapist, held my hand as I dug deeper into my childhood trauma and released some heavy emotional baggage I have been carrying.  Although I have emptied a great deal of my suitcase of scars, I do still remain cognisant of how my trauma filters into who I am today.

Self-acceptance and forgiveness are teachable moments to the inner child that requires healing.

How do we learn to forgive? That is the biggest question of all.

Forgiveness is having those tough conversations we often avoid. Forgiveness is setting boundaries in relationships.

Forgiveness is welcoming and releasing intense emotions as they flow through us each day.

Forgiveness is expanding our heart and opening up to more love.

Forgiveness is pushing through the ego’s continual verbiage of fear and rejection.

Forgiveness is loving each and every part of ourselves. The beautiful, the bold and the majestic.

I am loved. I am valued. I am important. I am seen.
